With Art Luminari, designer and artist Herbert Stecher creates objects that fuse sculpture, painting and lighting design. Stecher’s objects are made from painted concrete, iron and colourfully created surfaces.
He works primarily with simple geometric shapes like circles or rectangles with rounded corners, which he makes from plaster or concrete and hardens with pigmented textile fixative. Iron rods anchor the objects onto a concrete footing and inbuilt LED lighting illuminates the creation. Besides saturated acrylic colouring you will often find gold leaf accents. The objects vary in size from about 40cm to 240cm and reach between four and 50kg in weight. A solid footing is therefore crucial.
Stecher’s expectation of perfectly positioning light sources in his work is engendered by his professional training and experience as a photography designer: Art Luminari recognizes the potential of light as a design element and in its objects combines a playful light-heartedness with solid materiality.
