When the most modern light technology, sophisticated design and true passion join together, unique and fascinating light concepts emerge and come to life, such that you can only find in the works of Ingo Maurer.
Already since 1966 Ingo Maurer has been creating high-end lamps and light systems in Munich. Meanwhile his enterprise has grown from an originally one-man-business to a company with around 70 employees and freelancers who share Ingo Maurer’s passion for light and design. With their help the designs are being produced through thorough handiwork in their own company. The products are distributed worldwide via exclusive interior and light stores and displayed in their own showroom in New York City, in addition to their site in Munich. Already the debut work “Bulb” (1966) was a great success. Until today it counts amongst the most popular designs that over time was followed by many other successful models.
One of Ingo Maurer’s main characteristics is not only his fascination with the shape of the light bulb – the “ideal symbiosis of poetry and technology” – but also his lasting pioneering position regarding the development and implementation of the most recent light innovations. Over the course of his work his designs have been reaching out more and more to innovative modern light technology like LED and OLED. Besides being displayed in showrooms the works of Ingo Maurer have been documented in numerous exhibitions and prestigious museums, and have won several awards. Ingo Maurer is now responsible for complete light-room-concepts, like the interior light of the Atomium of Brussels. He surprises and excites again and again and has become indispensable in today’s world of light.
