With the artisanal oils from their oil mill on the river Havel (from Berlin and its surrounding areas) the two founders Frank Besinger and Sabine Stempfhuber want to encourage ecological awareness in dining culture.
The oil mill´s launch was a response to a rising demand in consumers for food products with traceable origins, production processes and producers.
Central to their work are native plant oils, unfiltered and cold pressed from regional organic seeds (sunflowers, pumpkin seeds, rape, poppy, mustard, flax, hemp, camelina and others) as well as herbal oils with a great density of aroma (ramson, rosemary, lemon grass amongst others) on the basis of these plant oils.
Star of their range is the dragonhead oil, won from the tiny seeds of the Iberian Dragonhead (Lallemantia iberica). Its high content of alpha linoleic acid, valuable for human nutrition and health, as well as the fine, grassy-nutty taste make dragonhead oil a kitchen specialty. It elevates salads, vegetables as well as meat and fish to new culinary heights. Despite this dragonhead oil is the rarest of the native plant oils and Dr. Frank Besinger the only oil miller in the country still pressing it.
