Sinn Spezialuhren GmbH is a manufacturer of mechanical watches with headquarters in Frankfurt am Main.
The company was founded in 1961 by the flight instructor and pilot Helmut Sinn under the name “Helmut Sinn Spezialuhren.” Since 1994, the company has been led by Lothar Schmidt. The company initially focused on producing cockpit navigation clocks and pilot chronographs. Today, a major focus is mainly on military/police watches (Einsatzzeitmesser) for professional users. These include special forces such as the maritime unit of the German Federal Police Group GSG 9, fire-fighters, divers and pilots. Thus, the German physicist and astronaut Reinhard Furrer wore a Sinn watch on his wrist during the D1Spacelab mission - in zero gravity. Sinn Spezialuhren is regarded as a technological and engineering brand. This means that the company develops new technological solutions for special areas of applications and application-related challenges for mechanical watches.
