Luzia M. Gossmann has created a special folding technique to manufacture everyday objects using the method of recycling: from old newspapers, outdated clothes or even construction plans she produces a varity of etuis, bags and room dividers. Gossmann calls her method “transFORMATE”.
The printed text is literally worked into a texture: Gossmann cuts up newspapers into strips and folds them four times to ensure stability and firmness. A matt sealing finish gives the material abrasion and moisture resistance. After some time the newspaper darkens so that a sepia-colored layer superimposes on the material, which results in a contrast to the clear-cut weaving design of transFORMATE.
