The contemporary designs of the shoe manufacturer "Trippen" combine environmental compatibility, longevity, functionality and social responsibility.
At the beginning of the nineties, Angela Spieth and Michael Oehler developed the idea of producing shoes in a way that individual components can be exchanged and replaced. Environmental requirements and ecological production methods are not only taken into account, but also have a significant influence on the design. The multifaceted and timeless models are handmade in Germany and Italy from mostly vegetable tanned leathers. The material comes from small Tuscan tanneries. The naturalness of the skins gives the shoes a special charisma. The designs take up current motifs from fashion, but they do not fit into one another's interchangeability. Over the years, the manufactory has developed its own expressive formal language, which has nothing in common with conventional shoe cuts. This unique cutting technique and the selected materials make the shoes true design objects that accompany their wearers for a long time. Joint projects with renowned designers such as Issey Miyake and numerous international design awards underscore the quality of the products.
During the visit of a shoe-shoe factory at the beginning of the 90s, Angela Spieth and Michael Oehler discovered wood soles from the 1970s. Inspired by the shape of the soles, they developed their own models from European timber, which they exhibited in a Berlin gallery in 1992. The exhibition was a success: Renowned designers ordered models for their fashion shows and first orders were placed. That is how the history of the manufactory "Trippen" begins in a Berlin backyard workshop. In 1998, an own production facility was built in Zehdenick, where shoes were already manufactured before the turnaround. Since 2014, the office and showroom have been located at the Treptower Park in Berlin. In addition to its own shops in Germany, Antwerp and Paris and partner shops in Germany, Great Britain, Israel, Japan, Taiwan and China, more than 450 traders worldwide distribute the shoes of the manufactory "Trippen".
